We’re a big fan of Gmail over here at noheat.com, its better than sliced bread so when we got a whiff of Gmail news my fingers couldn’t type fast enough. The word is that the next update of Gmail will include a new Contacts and Signature section. This is said to be one of the weakest links in Gmail at the moment. The signature section will allow more customization as well such as a link to share complete contact info (ala Plaxo). Here is a list of other features in testing.
* List by Senders Domain.
* Date Range Searches.
* Send to Blog.
(Admins please send edits quickly, get screenshot of contacts section if you can)

If your PC either does not have a drive light or has one that is hidden at the front of the laptop like my Sony VGN-A790 then this little utility is for you. It displays a light in the system tray to show when the hard disk is active. This is great for those moments when you ask…What the %@$& is my system doing? Here’s the link to download
Hard Disk Indicator.

Some things should just work correctly, I think someone is using that particular line to sell vacuum cleaners, but it also works for operating systems. For years the Mac OS has had a feature to allow to you to view folder sizes in your detail listing, and that seemingly is one of the few features that Microsoft did not rip off. So in comes Folder Size for Windows 2.3 a freeware application that corrects this glaring omission in the Windows operating system. So go forth knowing the sizes of your folders without one extra right click.
I have a lot on my desktop typically. This is because I typically use my desktop as a staging ground for all of my files. However after watching my desktop icons bogging down my system every time they are reloaded I decided to something about it. The first part of that plan was to install
CleanDesk the second part is to install Iconoid. Iconoid hides desktop icons when you don’t need them and see them when you do.
Iconoid is a small program that helps reduce the clutter and confusion of the Windows(r) desktop. With Iconoid you can: Automatically hide and display desktop icons Remove the colored box behind icon text Automatically set the colored box behind the text to an optimal color for your desktop picture Quickly and easily minimize all of the windows on your screen Save and restore the positions of icons Insure that icons do not move when you change screen resolutions Save icon locations for each screen resolution individually
Callthefuture.org calls a future you at a designated future time from a designated future number and reads off a message in a
computerized future voice. This is a great little Web 2.0 application for sending a reminder, pulling a prank, or excusing yourself out of a date or family event. If only Ted from “Bill and Ted Adventures” knew about this service he could have warned his future self with this instead on relying on the often unreliable time traveling phone booth.

Browzar is a free web browser based on the IE browser engine. The upside to this iteration of IE is that it does not store cookies, history, passwords, and does not store autocomplete. The application has no install feature and you can run it from a flash drive.

Mac OS X only! FolderBrander brands your folders so you can organize with custom folders that really stand out. Easily change the look and write on top of the folder just pick a base icon and type in a short text label. Two sliders let you rotate and skew the text to match the orientation and perspective of the base icon. And to position the text, simply click and drag.

Are you hard to wake up in the morning? Does your alarm clock not quite cut it? Turn your Mac into a giant alarm clock with iRooster. Nothing says get your ass up right now like blasting yourself awake with your Altec Lansings placed precariously by your head. Cue up Jimmy Hendrix and let your Mac start your day.

The iPhone has been the subject of speculation for quite a while and I thought I would drop what I know. I will try to not drop enough information as to reveal my source.
