Spotlaster is like Apple’s Spotlight on Steroids
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Lifehacker has a good article on Spotlaster which is like Apple’s Spotlight on steroids. When Apple introduced Spotlight some of us lamented over having a dumbed down interface for finding items. Spotlaster simply does find better for more advance users.

IP in Your Email, get your external IP and send it to any email
What was that IP address again? How many times did you wish you had the IP of your crashing router on your home network to do a quick reset. I used to have a Linksys that would crash at least once a month at the most inopportune times and I designed this application to send me my network’s external IP address everyday or what ever intervals I wanted. Many ISPs with broadband give you a dynamic IP address and this helps you know that you are up and running and what the IP address is. It also is a nice monitor sending hourly emails for testing flaky connections. I have grown used to being able to view my external IP from my system tray and at the request of others with the same problems I created IP in Your Email application (don’t send me emails on the name). IP in Your Email is a very simple application that queries your external IP address and puts it in your system tray. It then gives you the option of sending that IP address at any hourly interval to whatever e-mail address you would like. I hope you enjoy!
Just like HighSchool your coolness factor weighs in, now it just affects your webpage
Backlinks are important to search engines and wandering web traffic. Think of it like high school, if two people think you are cool and say it, you are not necessarily as cool as if you had 200 people thinking you are cool and saying it. It also matters who says it. If half of the people that say you are cool are your brothers and sisters or your teacher (someone who is traditionally uncool, sorry Jenine) then you are less cool than say the all star players on the team.
Use email reminders to remind you to post new content to your webpage or blog daily
Weekly Noheat Blogging Tip. Use memotome.com to remind you to post your blog.
After writing the memotome.com tip yesterday I realized one thing I always needed to remember to do, which is post to my blogs and webpages. Your viewers need to see fresh content everyday to think it worthy of a return visit and Google’s Pagerank wants to see content updated as often as possible too. So if you actually blog for dollars and traffic matters, post and post often.
Reminders in the right place at precisely the right time with Memotome.com
Its a sad commentary on my life that I can remember how much ram the first Mac had on any given day but my own parent’s birthdays slips my memory. Does this mean I am thoughtless? No it means my brain is full of nuggets of information not necessarily important to me. I have tried Google Calendar to keep myself from forgetting things but lets face it we all live in our email and if you refuse to use Outlook your options are limited, or all they? So what if you could get a reminder in your email at precisely the right time? What if you could also get an SMS message on your phone? If only there were integration with Google Calendar to this automatically. 30Boxes has an email reminder similar to what I want but I am getting tired of bouncing from Calendar to Calendar as each one of those applications evolve and update features. One day Google Calendar will have those features and until then I use Memotome.com which can send you reminders every day, weekly, every few weeks, monthly, yearly as well as one time reminders.

How to call out content theives, six shooter provided by DoshDosh

This is apparently the decade of the crook. Wars for no reason, people stealing software, and blogging with someone else’s hard crafted wording. Funny thing is when they are caught they either squirm away or try to put up some sort of fight that their idea is more original because they added a comma here or changed your program’s icon. It makes me sick to see people disregard other people’s hard work. Its not like I charge for my content or software but I would at least like the credit of doing the hard work in the first place. Anyway after having some of my content stolen I decided to take a stand with a little help for DoshDosh. DoshDosh’s method of calling your content thief, worked for me and it may work for you.
The next big mashup Yahoo Instant Messenger and MyBlogLog

When Yahoo bought MyBlogLog.com there was very little noise in the tech world. Usually when a web property like MyBlogLog.com is acquired, especially one so universally liked there is at least some voices of decent. It may be that Yahoo makes precious few mistakes when they acquire a web property. How could this pair benefit from each other?
How could Yahoo harness the power of Mybloglog while not damaging the brand? It makes sense knowing that Yahoo is integrating a web version of their instant messenger into their web email, that they would integrate MyBlogLog accounts and add chat features to the MyBlogLog widget. Imagine visiting your favorite website and being able to chat live with the MyBlogLog community. Of course this chat would be ad sponsored of course.
LG KE850 copies Apple or the other way around?
Which came first the chicken or the egg? It’s the age old question that people have asked since the dawn of time. Now just one more way to complicate it would be, which came first LG KE850 or iPhone. So did the Apple rip off the idea of the iPhone from LG or vice versa? One will never know, however they are very similar and you have to wonder when we can expect either of these smartphones in the US. LG claims Feburary, Apple in June. I anticipate even though the LG doesn’t carry the cool factor of Apple’s iPhone they will probably sell more, because LG sells to all of the major carriers. If this phone is available for Verizon Wireless I will be getting in line not because I dislike the iPhone but because I dislike changing carriers and getting into a contract with a carrier with spotty and unreliable service (in my area).
