Convert MP3 files to SWF flash files

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Ever need to post a MP3 or audio file to the web but don’t want it ripped down from the web with the greatest of ease?  Maybe you want to preview your music or concerts on the web, whats the best way to share that audio without counting on something like Quicktime?

With Batch Create MP3 Stream you simply drag and drop your files into the file list and convert.  Batch Create does a great job at encoding your files so they sound their best.  On the other side it offers a nice flash audio controller that can start, pause, and rewind your audio.  For my money this is one of the easiest ways to convert a MP3 to a SWF file.  Its not free, but at $29.95 MP3 Stream Converter is a screaming deal if you have to post hundreds of audio files to the web.

Pandora to add Music Videos to their streaming audio

Pandora

Straight from the rumor-mill…We’re hearing that Pandora is planning on introducing Music Videos to their offerings of streaming audio.  It seems they are in talks right now with some big time players in the music business at getting MTV like music videos integrated into a new service tentatively called Pandora Video.  The big question we had was why?  Seems Pandora is having CTR issues.  People are letting Pandora run in the background without clicking on the ads.  Since Pandora is ad supported it makes sense that focusing a user’s eyes on their web page and ads instead of being the page at the background playing music and not being seen.  But wait you say, not every song has a music video to go along with it.  Apparently Pandora has been in the market for prosumerish video editing.  We’re guessing that maybe Pandora might allow its users to create their own videos for music that does not have a video.  Stay tuned for more info!

Utility Easily Tweaks your Windows Vista

I resisted buying Vista until I was forced into it and after living with good old Microsoft Vista for quite a while now I can tell you that one installation doesn’t fit all users. Microsoft in their infinite wisdom, knowing exactly how you want to use a computer, is opt to moving controls for the sake of adding a new version number to the mix. For instance, if you want to just click on the run command you have to search for it now. Thank god for software developers that can turn off that gushy Vista garbage.

VistaTweaker is a nice and simple tool that allows you to modify your Vista installation to work the way it should work. Basically all of the features that Vista had hidden because you as a user are not smart enough to use them are all available to turn back on. UAC driving you nuts like a Mac commercial? Turn it off with a simple click? Looking for that pesky “Run” command? Click a radio button and you are in business.

Everything from showing hidden files to speed up tweaks that the pros use are here in one easy to use package. There are some notable omissions though, like most of the Aero (Windows Vista default theme) settings that tend to slow down your PC. The best part of VistaTweaker is that it is free, easy to use, and stable. I tested most of the functions on my machine with Vista Ultimate and never saw a glitch that I would expect from a pre-1.0 release.

GPS for FREE? Ad supported GPS the next frontier

GPS for FREE, Could it happen?  AdNav a Startup out of Brooklyn, New York is one of the first companies to come out with a advertising supported GPS unit.  Their device lets you get turn by turn directions, flight, weather information, search the internet via ASK.com at any WIFI access point, and find nearby attractions.

We have to say this really makes sense, and were the Google guys asleep when these guys were looking for partners?  There is an old saying “Location, Location, Location” when it comes to business.  Well now with a AdNav you can locate businesses that you might not necessarily know about, giving the AdNav business a distinct advantage.

Just imagine you are on vacation and are looking for a gas station.  The nearest sign says next gas station 50 miles, but oh wait my adNav says there is a cool themed gas station a half a mile from the interstate only five miles down the road.  The ability for that small gas station to be found is like money in the bank.  Being in the right place at the right time is the difference between a successful and an unsuccessful business.

Right now AdNav is a small startup that plans to offer their GPS service to Hotels and Rental agencies for a few dollars.  Ultimately they plan on giving their GPS devices out for free to the general public.  They are partnered up with ASK.com for a search engine available at WIFI hotspots but you have to guess that Google will try and get poised to offer something similar perhaps bundled with their new Phone Operating system.

Meanwhile AdNav is going to gain some big time traction if they can get their devices in the hands of consumers.  Keep in mind we haven’t used an AdNav and it could be vaperware but the idea is sound in this age of internet based services. The company expects to have the first devices on the street in San Francisco sometime this month.
