Hot or Not started it, the rating craze. Sure it was superficial but rating things is and was a craze not yet ready to slow down. Hot or Not ended up becoming more of social networking site instead of rating site. They even tried to go free with ads but it never worked. Hot or Not’s popularity has been dropping pretty steadily of late since they decided to go back to a subscription model. So who will fill the gap? Looks like hotflation is going to try and go for Hot or Not’s territory with their version of a rating site. They even take a dig at Hot or Not on their about page…“The two simply felt that among the vast landscape of photo rating websites all around the Internet there did not exist a single photo rating or sharing community that addressed the important issue of where its users were hot (or not).”
