Protect your Adsense account from Invalid clicks

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Reading the DigitalPoint forums you get a sense that Google’s Adsense is banning everyone and anyone for invalid clicks and while that may be an exageration just the fear of getting banned by Adsense is enough to cause shivers down the spine of well monetized sites.  If your site is click bombed or you suffer from a click happy reader or a associate editor who turns out to be scammy you could loose your Adsense account and all the money you earned, but all is not lost.

Send RSS Feeds to your Mobile Phone

We love our RSS feeds, but ZapTXT takes your normal everyday RSS feed and makes it more powerful.  Say for instance you want to get daily weather on your phone without paying for a service through your carrier, all you do is take the weather website’s RSS feed and have updates sent to your mobile device via text.  But wait theres more!  Want to get twitter or MySpace updates on your phone?  Or maybe you want your Google Calendar alerts to show up on your mobile phone?  You can do that too!  All kidding aside ZapTXT simply parses out a regular RSS feed and texts it out to your phone.

First Steve Jobs now Samuel Jackson

For the life of me I can not figure out why someone would want to read the blog of a fake person.  First it was The secret diary of Steve Jobs now it seems like people are taking on the persona of just about anyone and everybody.  I ran across this site that looked and read like a Samuel Jackson blog but alas its another spoof site, this time without the funny or the satire.  Other than the obligatory MF this and MF that there really isn’t much content here, but looking at the sidebar of this blog you see not only has Samuel Jackson been fake blogging but Barack Obama, Gordon Ramsay, Nancy Grace (really?), Peyton Manning and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been fake blogging as well (yes the MFing president of Iran) like that guy can take a joke, these people are tap dancing on chemical land mines.  If those fake bloggers aren’t enough you can get some Rudy and Hillary action too (that sounds sick but really).

Dump your girlfriend or boyfriend the Web 2.0 way

Not since Kevin Federline was dumped oh so unceremoniously by Britney Spears via text message has there been such a more unheartfelt way of breaking up with someone you are involved with.  However if you really are so heartless as to send a form letter to your soon to be ex there is a whole website dedicated to weaziling your way out of your relationship, excuse and all.  Still want to be friends, just click a button, thats all there is to it, yall.  Ironically you end a relationship and begin a new one all on the same webpage by clicking on the banner that says “Send a free secret love letter”.

Create a countdown for your Blog, Webpage, or Widget Bar

Are you eagerly anticipating the holidays?  Or maybe there is another event dear to your heart quickly approaching?  Create a countdown to your event and post it on your blog or in a widget using justsayhi’s customizable countdown timer.  Your timer will count down by days, hours, minutes, and even seconds to your event.  The code is super easy to install on your blog, webpage, or widget just copy and paste.  One cautionary piece of advice though is that they add on a “payday” loan link at the end of the code.  This is however very easy to remove.

Instantly find great Domain Names

If you’ve ever had to buy a great domain you know what a daunting task it can be to find a good domain name that hasn’t been taken.  With most domain services you take a stab in the dark and wait to see if your domain is available or not usually only to see that its been taken.  Bustaname is gets you your answer back quickly on .com, .net, and .org names, almost instantly.  Can’t think of a good name use their domain generator to get a list of available domain names.  You would be surprised to see whats still available.

Spell Check other Firefox Fields

Firefox’s built in spellcheck is great however its not perfect.  For some reason the powers at be decided that you get to be an ace speller in some places and in others not so much but with a simple hack to your about:config you can have your spell checker in small text fields as well as big ones.

Just type “about:config” into your address bar.
Then type “layout.spellcheckdefault” into the filter bar
Change the default value from 1 to 2
You are done!

Track your Packages visually with Google Maps Mashup

Chances are you will be shipping some holiday gifts this year and while most of the carriers have excellent tracking a picture says a thousand words, thats why iSnoop is pretty cool. Watch your package visually as it is shipped to its location with their cool Google mashup.  The service can get tracking for pretty much every shipping service out there (UPS, FedEx, USPS, or DHL/AirBorne). If the googlemaps mashup isn’t enough grab their RSS feed and be updated by RSS!  This is a must have in your bookmarks, beats going to each carriers website for sure.

Get your DOOVDE player, SUPER FUNNY

Ahh Technology wouldn’t be fun if it weren’t for acronyms. Watch this video its hilarious.

Check to see if your port is really open.

This one is pretty handy.  Lets say you have a crappy little home router and you have to open a port, the html interface of the router says your port is open, but is it really?  This great little tool finds your external IP address and then lets you check to see if your port is open.  I tried this on a proxy and it pulls the proxies IP perfectly and is able to get the ports that are open.
