Protect your Adsense account from Invalid clicks
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Reading the DigitalPoint forums you get a sense that Google’s Adsense is banning everyone and anyone for invalid clicks and while that may be an exageration just the fear of getting banned by Adsense is enough to cause shivers down the spine of well monetized sites. If your site is click bombed or you suffer from a click happy reader or a associate editor who turns out to be scammy you could loose your Adsense account and all the money you earned, but all is not lost.
There is quite a few tools for blocking a tracking click bombers. The first one I recommend is Clickaider.com, this gives you the reporting you need for people who try to get you banned by click bombing you. In fact instead of banning you, Google bans them. Giving Google Clickaider tracking is essential in them tracking down the click bomber, typically resulting in them loosing their own Adsense account. Its free and its easy to sign up with ClickAider and as a added bonus you get great tracking that can help you better monetize your Adsense ads, just add a few lines of code under the body tag and away you go. If for some reason you get click bombed by invalid clicks be sure to quickly email Google using this form to let them know, be sure to forward as much info from your Clickaider account as you can.
But wouldn’t be nice if you weren’t clickbombed in the first place? Thats where code such as this by Jim Westergren comes into handy. This code will limit multiple clicks by IP and shut down your click bomber before he gets a chance. The problem is that this can shut down legitimate clicks. Do you have code that you use to protect your Google Adsense account, feel free to share!

Never heard of it before, are they trustable ?
I remember when I got banned from Google Adsense. I had Clickraider installed, and informed Google of the problem. I had a user who for some bizarre reason would come on the site exactly every hour (and I mean pretty exact - within 30 seconds) and click 3 times. I didn’t know why, and I personally never found out who it was, but Google still wouldn’t believe me that I had nothing to do with it. Not even the fact that the IP was tracked to the US and I’m from the UK and have never ever even been to the US. Google still weren’t happy and wouldn’t give me my account back. So, that’s when I threw caution to the wind and went with Amazon Associates and built a real site, one that wouldn’t surprise me if you’d be fooled into thinking it was a genuine site that you actually buy the product directly from. Now, with Amazon Associates, I make average for this month, $80 per day. Not bad for a £0.99 purchase from ebay, is it?
Thank you for sharing this information.
Pity it’s too late for a lot of people!
If your adsense is really banned by google, does it really help? I have heard from stories that google never let them have a chance to explain or provide evidence. Once banned. Always banned.
AdSense is unlike most other Google services - once banned you cannot be unbanned. (Hmm, do anyone want to take Google to court in order to get back their “unjustly banned” accounts?
)
Protecting accounts from invalid clicks? Google should have developed technology that filters such clicks. Clickaider may act as evidence for potential click bombs, but that evidence is only good if you can report it to Google before your account gets hit by Google.
I have heard that Google does pardon a few accidental invalid clicks.
Is it correct?
@Altace: Yes, you’re correct. I was told that my account was banned when I reached $95, only $5 more and I would have had the payout. I tried to contest my position, however they do not reply to your emails.
Here’s a copy of the email you’d receive:
Hello NAME,
It has come to our attention that invalid clicks and/or impressions have been generated on the Google ads displayed on your site(s).
Therefore, we have disabled your Google AdSense account. Please understand that this was a necessary step in order to protect the interest of the AdWords advertisers.
A publisher’s site may not have invalid clicks or impressions on any ad(s), including but not limited to clicks and/or impressions generated
by:
- a publisher on his own webpages
- a publisher encouraging others to click on his ads
- automated clicking programmes or any other deceptive software
- a publisher altering any portion of the ad code or changing the layout, behaviour, targeting or delivery of ads for any reason
These or any other such activities that violate Google AdSense Terms and Conditions and programme polices may have led us to disable your account. The Terms and Conditions and programme polices can be viewed
at:
https://www.google.com/adsense/localized-terms?hl=en_GB
https://www.google.com/adsense/policies?hl=en_GB
Publishers disabled for invalid click activity are not allowed further participation in AdSense and do not receive any further payment. The earnings on your account will be properly returned to the affected advertisers.
If you feel that this decision was wrong and can maintain in good faith that the invalid activity was not due to your actions or negligence or those of the people that you are responsible for, such as employees and family members, you may appeal against the closing of your account. To do so, please contact us only through this form:
http://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/request.py?contact=invalid_clicks_appeal&hl=en_GB
If Google decides to evaluate your appeal, we will do our best to inform you quickly and will proceed with the appropriate action as necessary. If we have reached a decision on your appeal, subsequent or duplicate appeals may not be considered.
Yours sincerely,
The Google AdSense Team
Thanks for the info, however i don’t use adsense that much so i have nothing to worry about.
Merry Christmas to all at NoHeat!
I hope it’s a good one:)
After my friend got banned from adsense, I decided I’d try Ad-Brite. Lets just say Ad-Brite CPM is twice that of Adsense. Go Ad-Brite, go!
Thanks for the tip.
Have just started using Clickaider, hoping to better understand my Adsense traffic. At the moment, the thing that puzzles me is the difference in reported clicks between Clickaider and Google reports. I have aligned the time zones etc. but there is a significant difference - and not in my favour!!!
I am starting to look around for other ways of monetizing my sites and wonder if there is anything as simple or as twell targetted as Adsense. I am waiting for YPN ads to be available outside the US to try them out and would like to spread the risk instead of just using Adsense.
Any ideas?
Rob
I wish ebay would create some type of ad platform.. then they can use PayPal, skype, ebay and everything to advertise their system.

Oops, I forgot to add to that about Adsense. I got my Adsense revenue cheque on Friday - $1400 for November!
Guys … try out newly launched Adsense defense system.
It’s a click fraud protection system which can protect your valuable adsense account from being banned.

I have no enemies, but everything is possible…
The thought of people going around clickbombing people creeps me out. Don’t people have better things to do with there time? I guess there are shady people everywhere. Thanks for the info on how to avoid this problem.
Nice tools you mentioned. I guess I will give em a try. You can never be too careful.
Nice post! For those of you looking for an AdSense alternative, I highly recommend WidgetBucks. I’ve been earning almost twice as much with WidgetBucks compared to AdSense. Plus, the ads are optimized for WordPress, Blogger, and even TypePad. Check out this WidgetBucks review for some more info.
I want another working script. Plz help me
is this program trusable? if we giving the information to google (in case we’re banned), is google gonna trust it?
