Seriously, how hard is Microsoft working on Winblows XP that there is still a need for this worthless error logging? Unless Bill Gates himself is reading these error messages while drinking his coffee at the breakfast table, the dumprep.exe program's only function is to raise the blood pressure of millions of users and serves absolutely no purpose. Let Microsoft do their OWN work and stop forcing the consumers to be their bug reporting guinea pigs.

Good tip - hope it works. "Iworkthere" ought to *maybe* make the suggestion that sending a freaking text file shouldn't need to take 100% of my resources in the middle of my work day. Here's a novel thought: how about a VERY SMALL text file identifying the program and OS that piggybacks out when I send my mail? And if you need some more information, how about getting my permission? My computer cost me over $2,000; is it so much to ask that I be allowed to be in charge of how it gets used?

I have followed your instructions for getting rid of dumprep.exe but my computer
does not have the capability as you describe. I'm running XP Pro and when I clic on My Computer/Properties/Advanced Tab there are no options available from there to disable the Dump Pgm. I also went to Control Panel and looked. NADA!
Is the accessibility different for XP Pro? I need to get this off my computer. HELP!

Brilliant!
I've been trying to determine how to disable this for some time now!!!

95+ % of users will never go this far or even know how to find out what is bogging down their system so Microsoft will still be able to get a fully qualified sample set of what is causing their OS to halt to a crawl so often.

Thank you for the information Christopher Carey. you are a gentelman and a benefit to information systems worldwide.

Dumb rep is S___T! Windows is like a 5 year old in a damn candy store... always whining while you are trying to get REAL work done. Bunch of crap, how many new versions of win blows will they continue to make with out making any of them work right? As for I work there, you are a Imbisile. Microsoft doesn't give a rats ass how we feel or what we have to go through. Never did, never will. All I know is when I am editing 300 photographs in Photoshop, and my dead line is 8 hiours away, I really don't want to have to re boot or update some crap that will not affect me EVER from windows. Do I sound a bit dis pleased. you bet your sweet ass i am.f0
