Suddenly your machine bogs down right at that critical moment, you reach for your Louisville slugger to give your PC a piece of your mind but you pause.  A further examination of your machine finds a new application running in the background tying up your precious resources.  The dreaded Dumprep.exe, what is Dumprep.exe?  Well if you use Windows XP its a Microsoft tool called “Windows Error Dump Reporting”.  Basically if some file crashes on your system Windows “phones home” via Dumprep.exe and sends a error report back to the mothership where it will deleted and never looked at.  The funny thing is that the dumprep.exe isn’t the most reliable program ever and can make a already bad situation worse.  So let’s get rid of the narky ET. O engraçado é que o dumprep.exe não é o programa cada vez mais fiáveis e já pode fazer uma má situação pior. Portanto, vamos acabar com o narky ET.

Disable Dumprep.exe on Windows XP: Desativar Dumprep.exe no Windows XP:

1. Right click on “My Computer” choose “Properties” from that menu. Clique direito em "Meu Computador" escolha "Propriedades" a partir desse menu.
2. Click on “Advanced tab”. Clique em "Avançado guia".
3. Click the “Error Reporting” button. Clique no botão "Error Reporting".
4. Check the “Disable error reporting” box. Marque a "Desativar relatórios erro".

You may choose to uncheck the the box below it, “But notify me when an error occurs” if you want. Você pode optar por desmarcar a caixa abaixo o mesmo, "Mas notificar-me quando ocorre um erro", se quiser.

But wait!  There’s more!  If you are using Vista you get the same phone home with a different application.  So if you are using Vista, here’s your instructions to turn it off. Mas espere! E tem mais! Se você estiver usando o Vista, obtém o mesmo telefone para casa com um pedido diferente. Portanto, se você estiver usando o Vista, aqui está o seu instruções para desligá-lo.

Disable Error Reporting on Windows Vista: Desativar erro reportagens sobre o Windows Vista:

  1. Right click on “Control Panel”. Botão direito sobre o "Painel de Controle".
  2. Click on “System Maintenance”.  If you view your Control Panel by “Classic view” skip to the next step. Clique em "Sistema de Manutenção". Se você visualizar o Painel de controle por "Classic view" saltar para a próxima etapa.

    rahhh and I don’t have a dual-core yet… sems like everyone get one, it would be great to surf the web and do other things on my second monitor… Rahhh e não tenho uma dual-core ainda… sems como todos obter um, que seria muito bom para navegar na internet e fazer outras coisas no meu segundo monitor…

    Wow I wish I would have seen this a while ago. Wow gostaria gostaria de ter visto esta algum tempo atrás. Everyday I am forced into reboot by this stupid Dumprep program due to a issue with logitech drivers that crash all the time. Cada dia eu sou forçado a entrar reiniciar por esta estúpida Dumprep programa devido a um problema com os drivers logitech que travam o tempo todo. So far so good with these changes. Até aí, tudo bem com essas mudanças.

    bugs reported in volume by the “send this to Micorosft” actually do get addressed. Bugs reportados em volume pelo "enviar esta a Micorosft" realmente fazer chegar abordados. If the issue is a 3rd party issue then someone like me has to get ahold of the 3rd party and try to tell them they have a crashing bug that should be fixed. Se o problema é uma questão 3o partido então alguém como eu tem de obter ahold da 3 ª parte e tentar dizer-lhes que eles têm um bug que falhe deve ser corrigido.

    If it looking at the crash dump shows it is a Microsoft bug, then the team with the problem gets assigned the bug. When there is a reasonable number of repros of the crash to understand and fix the issue, then it is fixed for the next release.     Dude you are so fired. Dude você está tão disparou. If you are the one responsible for fixing bugs in Windows and third party applications you’ve been sitting on your ass for a very long time. Se você é o único responsável pela fixação de bugs no Windows e terceiro pedidos que lhe foi sentado em seu rabo por um tempo muito longo. Do a search for Dumprep on Google and you will see whole legions of Windows users who agree with me.
