Prettier OSX to do lists with Do it

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Its been a little while since we dusted off the old Powerbook for some OS X action but this little to-do list software was a must add to our soon to be replaced Powerbook.  Sure there is a ton of great to do lists out there but not quite as pretty as this skinable gem from Jim McGowan.  Each to do item can be linked with a file on your computer, a URL, such as the address of a website, or a contact from your address book.  To dos can also be set as reminders in iCal.  Oh yes and best of all its freeware.

Turning the iPhone into a Bugging Device

Maybe I’ve watched too many Bourne movies but this hack scares the hell out of me. Its always been assumed that with some amount of hacking your simple phone can help locate you through GPS and help big brother zero in on your activities (as if you have something to hide). This goes a bit too far, watch the video and you will see a security consultant undress your iPhone so far even it blushes. He even illustrates how a simple iPhone can record phone conversations, browsing habits, email, and even record the rooms ambient noises when it appears to be off. When a hacker wants at the information it can then be hustled to whomever wants your information via EVDO internet. Suddenly every office meeting is subject to recording, the arguments with your wife are fair game, and every word you utter could be recorded and used against you. I personally don’t own a iPhone but the technology behind my Treo 700wx is basically the same, leaving everyone with smartphones vulnerable. I for one have accidentally called others when my smartphone dialed someone from within my pocket and can relate to having sensitive conversations heard unexpectedly but this is a whole new level of privacy invasion via Smart Phone. With less than a half an hour with your iPhone or smart phone a hacker can have access to some of the most intimate moments of your life, and choose to use them as they see fit.  Suddenly your friendly iPhone sitting next to you is looking more and more menacing.

Coverflow for more than Music, People and pictures too?

Chris over at FactoryJoe has a great idea for better visualizing people in your address book or photos on your Mac.  Its called Coverflow for people and maybe for images.  We all love how easy it is to select your songs on a iPhone, why can’t that same UI be converted over for use on other parts of OS X?

Expanding on Chris’s idea what if Safari had a Coverflow for bookmarks letting you see your most popular bookmarks in a Coverflow environment updated with the latest screenshot?

Lifehacker vs Apple

Lifehacker is featuring a great article on making a OS X machine out of a ordinary PC. Sure they are risking a lawsuit, and thats why you should read the article and copy and paste it for the day that it disappears.

Windows on iPhone? Yes you can!

Seems like the iPhone was just introduced and now you can do everything you can do on your home PC on your iPhone. Thats progress! PC Now has created a web application that works with the iPhone that allows you to easily see your remote Windows or Mac on your iPhone. This way you can send your photos you take straight to your home computer without even being there. Think about it, imagine you are hundreds of miles away on vacation. You could transfer your pictures to a printing service and have pictures printed before you even get back. The possibilities are endless.

Whats great about their web application is there is virtually no setup. There was a VNC tutorial a while ago but come on who has time for instructions. This just works. Big fun to mess with your friends and show them Windows running on a iPhone.
