Keep those iPhone urges at bay with “Home” for Windows Mobile

Are you stuck with a Windows Mobile phone whether it be a newly purchased phone or a new contract? Or maybe you just like the network that you are on but are having some urges to have something a little iPhoneish. I use Verizon Wireless and have been trying to resist the urge to go buy a iPhone. For two reasons really, number one I just got a Treo 700wx a while back and cannot justify spending the extra cash for a iPhone. Also believe it or not Verizon Wireless’s network is really good here with EVDO speeds that are decent. Oh and of course I can install software without “jailbreaking” something. So I’ve tried some of the themes that make my phone act like a iPhone to keep the iPhone urges at bay only to be disappointed in the end.
Well fortunetaly this little company called Pointui has created some software called Home that effectively runs over top Windows Mobile and creates a easy to use touch screen interface. No need to pull out that stylus all the main functions of the phone are articulated with Mr. Thumb. Using their Applet ribbon you can easily access the time, tasks, appointments, calendar and up to date weather forecasts and current temperatures. There’s just a whole lot to like here so I recommend trying it out if you are Windows Mobile user. The software is beta, but I was hard pressed to find a bug other than having to manually create it as a startup item. Come on guys have some faith in your software.
Mobilize your WordPress Blog with WordPress Plugin

The web is everywhere, even on your cell phone, but if you’ve ever tried to view your typical blog on a cell phone you would find that even your own site may be difficult if not impossible to view. So how do you know if your site or blog is ready for the mobile web? The first thing to do is to go to a emulator site such as the one over at dotMobi and view your site there. No its not a iPhone interface but you will be treated with the lowest common denominator when it comes to web browsing which will help you design your site to work well on a mobile’s screen. Do you have a WordPress blog and want to make it mobile compatible? Any Moore has a great little plugin called the “Wordpress Mobile Plugin” which will automatically detect your mobile browser and convert your site to a mobile site for viewing. Whats more is that you can add admob advertising and make a little coin from your new mobile readers.
Virtually Smudge up your Virtual iPhone
This one is not really useful but if you want to virtually own a iPhone here’s your chance. Its called the My iSmudginator and lets you virtually smudge up a brand new iPhone. When will all of this craziness end, and how do I ever look at my Treo and think its cool again? Oh I know, realize I have an extra $300 more in the bank.

Thats Hot, Paris Hilton’s assistant waiting in line for iPhone
That’s Hot, Well it seems hype needs more hype. Paris Hilton’s assistant was seen in line today waiting in line to get her recently incarcerated and released hands on the latest greatest Apple phenomenon the iPhone. Seems even the great Hilton Heiress’ pull is not enough to get her an early iPhone peek. Of course Apple is probably not bending over backwards for ex-convicts. But who else is waiting in line?
According to the LA Times others taking part in the media whore iphone frenzy are anyone from Cher to Steve Wozniak (what!). It seems even the rich in famous are forced to wait in line for the iPhone. An Apple spokesman says “No one is getting special treatment”. Paris should be used to not getting special treatment by now but even Oscar winners aren’t getting cuts. So today while you wait in line to get a iPod look around you, you may be surrounded by the rich and famous (or hyped) maybe you can sell your spot for a few hundred thousand dollars.
Nintendo and Apple to partner on games for iPhone

If you can’t beat them join them. With the iPhone days away from being launched Nintendo has apparently begun working with Apple, licensing a limited amount of content for the new phone. It was rumored a while back that Nintendo was planning on releasing a phone on their own, however this was scuttled shortly after the iPhone was first shown in January.
These exclusive games will be released on the iTunes Store at a $29.00 price point a few months after the iPhone launches. No word on whether Nintendo will be distributing iPod versions of these games. A major hangup in development has been the lack of buttons on the iPhone that was remedied by a touchscreen D-pad. One might wonder how Nintendo fans may see view playing on a phone without a traditional D-pad.
Asked anonymously whether or not these games would cut into Nintendo DS sales, we heard a resounding no. The logic is that because the licensed games will be exclusive and cater to an older audience they should not intrude into Nintendo’s existing markets.
The one thing Nintendo does worry about is their amount of control of Apple. While not developing a cell phone internally has its advantages, giving up control of platform has not historically been a practice Nintendo has taken. Nevertheless Nintendo sees gaming on Mobile Smart Phones as a threat to their core business and a partnership with Apple could be seen as a bold move into a very profitable market. One thing is for sure Nintendo should expect to share in the marketing spotlight of the iPhone in the same way that AT&T has.
Can’t wait for Nintendo to put games on the iPhone you can some here and here
Easily Sync your bookmarks to anything even your mobile device
There are many ways of transferring your bookmarks from Computer to Computer but one of my favorites is very simple. All I do is go to the Bookmark Manager in Firefox and export my bookmarks. Then I email myself the bookmark file with Gmail. Once you receive your email you click on the view attachment button in Gmail. This opens up the html document where-ever you are even on your mobile device.
Click on the view button in your Gmail
It will open up and look like this (Exploded Hierarchical view)
