Streakr, Discover a cleaner better organized StumbleUpon

Imagine if you were to mix StumbleUpon, MyBlogLog, and Myspace you would get very close to Streakr. Streakr is a community based toobar much like the well liked and (recently acquired by eBay) toolbar from StumbleUpon. It’s said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and that couldn’t be truer than with Streakr and Stumbleupon. If you like StumbleUpon you will Streakr, so why add another toolbar to your computer if StumbleUpon does everything that StumbleUpon does? The answer is that Streaker just does some things better. The back end of their forums and connecting with other streakrs are just better done. Stumble’s forums really feel like you are stumbling through communication while Streakr is straightforward and feels much like contacting members from MyBlogLog.

A while back ago we were getting ready to write a review on Xinu a web site stats site, when something went horribly wrong. The website went down and when it came back up the author was bailing “I can’t go on with the project because it’s too huge for me, maybe other people with much money can continue”. The fate of Xinu looked bleak. Then the author decided to release the code so others could continue. Recognizing a very awesome tool when we saw one we jumped on board now you can find Noheat.com’s own Xinu powered stats program…
Get WIRELESS Xbox Live for your Xbox 360 without adapter
We have a Xbox 360 in our house and recently got a free Xbox Live subscription and wanted to try it out, however our Xbox 360 is at the other end of the house, and low and behold it is not equipped with an Xbox 360 wireless adapter. It was also too long to run a cable from one end of the house to the other. The Xbox 360 adapter is around $100 in most stores so thats out of the question, seems silly to charge so much for a wireless adapter. So I thought long and hard about how to connect the Xbox to the internet so that we could access Xbox Live. A scour of ebay showed slightly cheaper adapters but you are still paying over $70 shipped to get it to you. There must be another way I thought, there must be a way to get wireless xbox live for your Xbox without the adapter. Turns out there is a couple different choices…
The most fun you ever had voting
We all love to vote, and we all have opinions so what better to do with your time than to vote on people’s opinions. The peer pressure is on, did you vote the way everyone else did? This site makes it easy to create your own polls too. You can start polls on anything such as the best YouTube video, Music, Pictures, or Ideas. Then they mix in a bit of MyBlogLog with avatars of who voted on what and who they are. So get your vote on with Polls Boutique. You never had so much fun voting.
The Day the Internet Crashed
I guess I couldn’t resist this parody of a news broadcast of the internet crashing. This of course would only be possible if every server in the world were Microsoft based.
Eric Tipton: “…The screen froze up…there was nothing I could do. I tried to force quit all the open applications but nothing worked.”
Water into Fuel found in Cancer Cure Quest
I definitely think this qualifies as cool technology. John Kansas was not looking for an answer to the energy crisis. He was looking for a way to cure cancer. Four years ago inspiration struck in the middle of the night. Why not use radio waves to kill the cancer cells. What he ended up finding was a way to burn salt water as a fuel…
How to “FTP” a file on a Mac
Every week I get asked from one person or another “how do I FTP a file” so while this is not a super technical update to NoHeat I thought I would make something that other technical people can forward off to other FTP newbies. This week the FTP question was for the Mac so I chose to showcase CyberDuck. CyberDuck is a opensource and free program that can easily manage many FTP accounts. While its true that OS X has software built in that can connect to your FTP the easy of use for a novice in setting up would take longer than just downloading CyberDuck. Also note that I am a fan of Transmit for the Mac but since it is a shareware title and CyberDuck is free I will cover CyberDuck instead.
