I definitely think this qualifies as cool technology. John Kansas was not looking for an answer to the energy crisis. He was looking for a way to cure cancer. Four years ago inspiration struck in the middle of the night. Why not use radio waves to kill the cancer cells. What he ended up finding was a way to burn salt water as a fuel…

AOL has released a FREE anti-virus package

AOL has released a FREE antivirus package to the general public. We think they have a winner here. Other than the Phishing toolbar it installs on Internet Explorer it doesn’t seem to have any other catches (not your typical AOL style). During our tests it accurately found and was able to remove a bevy of viruses we threw at it. Are the days of pay anti viruses over? PC Cillin still resides as the number one antivirus on my main machine (call me old fashioned) but AOL’s Active Virus Shield is a likely candidate for spare machines sitting around ready to get infected.

Active Virus Shield’s back end is based on Kaspersky’s Technology and it includes real time scanning of files and emails. The virus definitions are released hourly and it will automatically update itself every hour.

Rotate your display and create a page view display

Turn your LCD display into a pageview display.
This great little utility can rotate your display using the native capabilities built into your graphics card. It’s no longer necessary to resort to bloated Windows hacks, additional software layers or phantom drivers to achieve content rotation. In most instances, support is now available directly from the graphics chip manufacturers, who continuously improve and apply quality assurance to their drivers. Works with windows XP and is only a little over 100K.

Remove corrupted entries from Windows XP’s autoplay

Actually this tool has been written to remove corrupted entries from Windows XP’s autoplay. The background is that after an uninstallation of several applications like media players, some invalid entries still may remain in Windows XP’s autoplay sections. These are visible every time a CD or DVD is put into the drive and the autoplay selection dialog appears. Now with Autoplay Repair it is possible to remove these invalid entries and even create new or modify existing so called autoplay handlers quickly and easily. But this tool can also be used to remove unwanted entries or just to tidy up Windows XP’s autoplay sections for a better overview. In addition to that Autoplay Repair has some other necessary features to offer.
