Download torrents without additional software
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Ever need to download a torrent on another computer but don’t want to install software? Bitlet.org is a java based program for doing just that, just add your torrent to the text box and click “Download torrent”.
So okay you are wondering why in the world would I want to do this? After all utorrent is a few seconds download and if you are downloading torrent content whats the difference if the software is on your hard drive too? Well you see theres more to this torrent client than you can see. First off, there is no configuration which is great for new users (noobs). Second and this the best part, if you have a bandwidth limited site you could use a bitlet download link to distribute your software or music saving you money without inconviencing your sites viewers. Wait did I just somehow legitimize downloading with a torrent client? Here’s an example download link, Steal This Film!
Create Expiring Meaninful Expiring URLs
Temporary URLs are not a new thing. TinyURL is a well know URL shortener, but whats missing from most URL Shortener sites is the ability to customize your URL to make it more meaningful. MeaningfulURL does just that, it allows you to create a temporary URL that is easier to remember. Your URL works for 3 days and can be used in any number of combinations. Say for instance you want to send Dave a download link to a new product you have created, you could use “thanks.to/dave” as the URL. Here are some more of the possibilities….
thanks.to, apologize.to, happy-birthday.to, greetings.to, goodluck.to, best-wishes.to, bestwishes.to, congrats.to, vote.to, merry-christmas.to, welcome.you.to, enter.to, special.thanks.to, big.thanks.to, many.thanks.to, say.iloveyou.to, need.you.to, invite.you.to, appreciation.to, our.thanks.to, our.appreciation.to, we.apologize.to, invite.to, your.vote.to, and propose.to.
Don’t get dead the Web 2.0 way with SafeCheckIn

The modern world can be a very lonely place. In the news you hear about people disappearing and no one knows the better until its way too late. As someone that did the whole internet dating scene, I can attest that there are some real nut jobs out there and having someone to check in with and make sure you arrived safe and sound is a great idea.
That’s where safecheckin comes into effect. Simply pay a small fee of $30 (called a false alarm fee) and get the added security of knowing that people will be called if you don’t happen to check back in on the website. They market the service as a way to notify relatives after a certain amount of time if you don’t check back in after skiing, but it could be used for any number of situations – dating, road trips, or hiking – basically anything.
They will make every attempt to contact you by land line or cell phone before they notify your designated responders so as to not freak out the authorities and your parents / concerned parties. When you sign in, you can leave all of the details of your location and who you are with so that whoever might be called to look for you can start in a logical place. This is a pretty smart service and while the design isn’t a very Web 2.0 look, the interaction is.
Find a blog author’s other sites by using a Aboutus wiki

Every once in a while I do a search for my own website with Google to see whats linking back, but doing a search this week returned a very interesting result. When I searched for “Noheat.com” the number 2 result was a aboutus.org wiki link. When I clicked around I noticed that they found a lot of my domains (not all though) and linked them up, also if I visited a site without a AboutUs wiki it autogenerated a wiki for the site which is pretty cool for building a database of sites and getting a nice link back. I also noticed that site owners that edit their pages on Aboutus end up on the main page of Aboutus sending traffic to your site. All in all this is a pretty nice site, and should be a useful resource in finding your favorite blog’s other sites.
Web Photo Editing the right way with PicResizer
The web is chock full of Web 2.0 picture resizing applications, but none do it quite this well. The interface is polished and quick and try as I might I had a hard time breaking it which is a very good thing. Whether or not you want to just resize the or you actually want to edit the picture this tool can do the job like a real application. One of the most unique functions of this software is the capability to batch out pictures, which I have never seen before in a web image application.
You also have the ability to crop, rotate, adjust brightness, adjust contrast, use a brush tool, add text, blur, sharpen, add bevels, or add effects.
Visually see the path data takes to view a website
Visually see the path packets of information flow with Visual Trace Route Tool a cool Google Maps mashup. The Internet is a large and complex aggregation of network hardware connected together by gateways. Information sent over the Internet is broken down into formatted blocks of data called packets. This cool little tool visualizes that trip your data packets take and sometimes can answer some website latency issues by watching the amount of “hops” it takes to get responses from servers. The more “hops” the slower a website or server could seem.
