Downloading the latest versions of your favorite programs is a tiring task, especially on a fresh installation of Windows. Navigating through the mess of websites and download links is frustrating, waiting for the installers to download is boring, and running each one separately is annoying. InstallPad relies on “application lists,” which are XML files that tell it where to download the programs and how to install them. It has a built-in GUI for building and editing an application list (or you can edit XML by hand if you like), and you can select which applications from the list to install. The cool part is that it does all of this silently. You don’t have to sit there and press next a million times, because InstallPad does it for you. It can download from HTTP and FTP sources as well as run local installers or network resources.

FixFireFox restores bookmarks and fixes file corruption in FireFox

Windows Only: FireFox is a great browser, but it is not quite perfect. One wrong upgrade or funky extension can blow up your browser and cause your bookmarks to disappear. So after a million times of recovering and fixing bookmark and pref files manually I decided to take matters into my own hands. I built FixFireFox which essentially fixes files to correct your browser’s behavior. FixFireFox is a free download and is not associated with Mozilla. Please note that this application will only work on the User Account you are currently using and your default FireFox profile. I will make updates later to add other Accounts as well as multiple profiles. This application is compatible with all versions of Firefox including Firefox 2.0. Firefox 2.0 is especially prone to loosing its bookmarks and having Chrome errors, hope this can help fix firefox for you.

Add a folder size menu to your details view

Some things should just work correctly, I think someone is using that particular line to sell vacuum cleaners, but it also works for operating systems. For years the Mac OS has had a feature to allow to you to view folder sizes in your detail listing, and that seemingly is one of the few features that Microsoft did not rip off. So in comes Folder Size for Windows 2.3 a freeware application that corrects this glaring omission in the Windows operating system. So go forth knowing the sizes of your folders without one extra right click.

Clean up that desktop clutter and speed up Windows with Iconoid and

I have a lot on my desktop typically. This is because I typically use my desktop as a staging ground for all of my files. However after watching my desktop icons bogging down my system every time they are reloaded I decided to something about it. The first part of that plan was to install CleanDesk the second part is to install Iconoid. Iconoid hides desktop icons when you don’t need them and see them when you do.

Iconoid is a small program that helps reduce the clutter and confusion of the Windows(r) desktop.
